I think it is one of the best rivalries in the NFL. Considering how the post season ended for the Bengals last year, the game is going to be filled with so much nonsense its going to be a great game to watch. It's one of the games I'm keeping my eye on this year, because it'll show who really should've been conference champs last year.

I am a die hard Steeler fan & agree somewhat with your question. The x-factor for me right now is whether or not Ben will be in game mode or not. The Steelers this year are missing some fire from what I've seen, mostly coming out of the backfield. Troy P had a breakout year but can he repeat & will Joey P. try to kill Chad again.
The biggest competition I think is in the south with the Falcons & Carolina or Jacksonville. Tampa is not a force with the quarterback problems they are having. Cadillac is good but can't carry the team.Pittsburgh /Cincy is a good rivalry & may be building up to be poison but I say that it is not yet the stuff that the old rivalries are made of. But, On any given Sunday, who knows.

Absolutely not!!!!
The Bengals have not done enough over the past 15 years to be the Steelers rival. The Steelers have DOMINATED them over the past 15 years and I can name 3 teams that are more "rival" teams.
Browns
Ravens
Cowboys
Even though the Steelers have hammered these teams over the past 15 years as well at least there were more than 1 or 2 games that actually meant something over those past 15 years. Rivalries can't be just called out by wimpy QB's that got hurt in the playoffs, and they can't be created by self proclaimed "golden boys" that make a list. Whenever the Bengals beat the Steelers in a game that actually matters then a rivalry may be starting. Until then the Bengals are just another team that must earn respect in the AFC North and understand that to be the man you got to beat the man.
Sorry Bengals fans but there is NOTHING you can say about your organization being superior to the Steelers organization. Your fans are cheesy and your Stadium looks like it was decorated by Tarzan. 5 rings to 0 rings. Respected owner vs. Penny Pinching owner. Guys that cry and whine about cheap shots vs. Big Time Players who make Big Plays in Big Games. and Lastly, no stupid Who Dey BS, We Dey and all the Bengals players know it.

Really, the best rivalries are the ones where you never know who will win. I think most of those (Green Bay exempt this year and last year) are like that. This year, I'm definitely going to watch The AFC East, because Baltimore is looking like a serious horse this year. Before the season started, I had money on the NFC east dominating the playoffs with 3 teams, but I don't see it now. Of course, it's a perfect season all around so far for Minnesota fans. 2-0 with the Packers, Randy Moss, and Daunte all 0-2.

Why the Bengals fans hate Pittsburgh:
Pittsburgh owns a 42-29 all-time record against the Cincinnati Bengals in the regular season, including an 18-17 record at Cincinnati and a 24-12 mark at home...the Steelers are 20-8
against the Bengals during the Bill Cowher era, with a 9-5 record at home and an 11-3 road record...the 20 wins against the Bengals
under Cowher are his most against any team in the NFL...Pittsburgh has won six of the last eight regular-season games between the teams and nine of the past 12...Pittsburgh
has won four of the last six meetings at home, including a 3-2 mark all-time at Heinz Field...the Steelers have won their last four games at Cincinnati and six of their last seven road games in the series...the Steelers had lost 15 of their previous 22 games played
against the Bengals prior to Cowher’s arrival, dating back to 1980...Pittsburgh has scored at least 20 points against Cincinnati in 21 of the 28 games coached by Cowher...the Steelers’ 18 road victories all-time against the Bengals are second-most against any opponent in the team’s history.

Not even close! And you can't simply say something like "Also, dont think historically, think NOW!" Without the "historically" then there is NO rivalry! Rivalries are build over years even decades, NOT over one season.
Pittsburgh - Cincinnati is one, but not the "best"
Dallas - Washington
Minnesota - Green Bay
Denver - Kansas City
Miami - New England
and of course, Pittsburgh - Dallas
These are all top class rivalries. (But if you were to limit it to this season then sure, Pittsburgh - Cincinnati would have to be huge!)

One of the best rivalries of all time. But being a lifelong Steelers fan and currently living (my whole life actually) in the Baltimore area, I would have to say my favorite is Steelers & Ravens. Ravens fans hate us and we hate them and it gets fun sometimes. Amazing how many Pittsburgh fans are down here though. Just look at how many bars the PFCOB (Pittsburgh fan club of Baltimore) takes over every single week. They even convinced a bar called the Purple Goose to be an official fan club bar....ouch!!! Bleed black n gold and hunt some Raven.

Ok, Steelers-Bengals are two better teams, but Dallas and Washington don't suck, and the chemistry of their rivalry is way more intense. I'll agree with you in the short term, but that's not what your main question asks.

If you are asking to think NOW and not historically you could make a point. I think one would also have to say the Colts and Jaguars could also be one. Of course being a Browns fan I think the Steelers - Browns rivalry is timeless.

No the best new rivalry that will form out of divisions will be the colts and the patriots because they are both high powered teams and could both easily win the Superbowl and go undefeated and with vinateri wit the colts now the ending result could change
