i have a 512 kbps internet connection, no firewall, why am i having slow transfers on p2p programs?...(like 1kbps).

I use shareaza, morpheus and ares...

Get a firewall, to stay safe. Unblock it once you get a firewall. Your router might not be configured for p2p. search google for ow to configure for p2p.

Coz you dont have firewall, it wil l take longer as when you open a web site it brings pop ups and all that. It also depends on the web sites that you are going to and how much graphic they contain.

Also i dont know, but if the interent is connected to other computer some one maybe downloading makeing it run really slow.

Another thing is that you computer can not take the modem you have and cant process information easy.

I would have a look at getting new RAM or getting a DRAM memory stick.
