i just heard about guild wars and i cant figure out how to actually play it. i went to he website and can't figure it out at all. help please

If you have a friend playing, they might be able to give you a trial account key (trial account keys come with the game.) In the meantime, if you go to www.guildwars.com and click the "Download the Client" link on the left-hand side, you can download the latest client.
Once you've got it downloaded, you will have to launch it and let it patch.
Then, once you get it patched, you need to create an account. You can do this from the login screen.
It's at this point that you need the Account Key from a friend -- or, you can go to the online Guild Wars store (linked from the game client, too) and buy either Factions or Prophecies -- when you do that, you will get a full Account Key.

You actually have to go buy a copy from your local game store, than sign up and connect to the internet to play. Think the earlier expansions cost about 39.99 and it's a free 2 play game.
