I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Sometimes it hard to move ahead when something like this happens and other times it is part of the battle that patients begin to fight.

To me the first step is to deal with the emotional issues rather than the task issues. When people repress their emotions, it takes a toll on their bodies and this is something you don't want to do at this time. Perhaps a therapist who does hospice work would best be able to work with a cancer patient. You want to do a very thorough job of this.

Another thing you can do is gather information so you can understand the reality of your situation. What is your prognosis? What is the standard treatment? What are the new treatments being developed. Sometimes it helps to consult with the top doctors who treat your particular cancer.

I think you want to restructure your life as much as possible to reduce stress and to seek enjoyment. Those around you should be very sensitive to your needs as they take priority. Gather a lot of humorous material - old Reader's Digest jokes from the library , old funny movies, DVDs of old comedy shows which are now carried by public libraries.

Research nutrition and what is the best diet to deal with cancer.

It doesn't sound like you are terminal, so I would not address issues of death. I would focus on how to best fight this disease.

A living will is a good beginning, write a letter to your family and keep it. Next step take your vitamins, buy Goji Juice or Noni Juice and take Spirulina/Blue Algae per direction on he bottle. You need to supply Oxygen to your cells. Do a total yeast cleanse to rid yourself of yeast, again yeast clogs your cells. Cancer cannot grow in oxygenated cells. You can do all that while you are getting treatment. All the stuff is available at GNC or any other Health Food Store. Also eat more raw vegetable and eat fruits, stay away from empty starches and cut out a lot of sweets. Also take Vitamin C and B complex.
Of course your doctor would say this is baloney.
I wish you good Luck, get better and lick this thing,

First, take a deep breath. Cancer is scary but nearly all forms are treatable and many are curable.

You do not have to figure this all out on your own. Whatever hospital will be responsible for your treatment will have social workers and one should be assigned to you. If you can be treated at a cancer center, they will have specific things about cancer treatment to help you navigate. The American Cancer Society has online help and local organizations and groups to help you as well. Find them online at:
http://www.cancer.org

That site will also provide information about local resources. For much more, use Google with "cancer support" as your search term. You can also do this for the kind of cancer you have diagnosed as having.

The living will is a good idea for everyone, not just those with a serious diagnosis. It's a good time for the whole family to make their wishes known, and more important, put them in writing.

You need a person to be your durable power of attorney for medical purposes designee. This is the person who will carry out your wishes if there comes a time you cannot do so for yourself. It may be that family members are not comfortable with this and you will need to find a suitable person.

You also need to educate yourself about your disease, about treatment options, and about changes in your lifestyle while undergoing treatment. You will want to check with human resources where you work about leave, insurance, temporary disability and so forth.

You may also want to consider getting a second opinion or two about treatment options and may want to consider going to one of the major cancer treatment centers for opinions or treatment, such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, MD Anderson, or the Mayo Clinic, to name only a few.

It's normal to be stunned and a little terrified, but don't give up hope. Cancer is a disease, not a disaster.

I recommend you read How to Prevent and treat Cancer with Natural Medicine, by Michael Murray, and Beating Cancer With Nutrition, by Pat Quillen. They are full of good advice and info and will help you get thru the chemo and other treatments more successfully and with less trauma. Both books are approved by Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
Good luck and God bless!

First of all, what type of cancer is it? And what treatment has your doctor recommended so far?

It does depend if you have been diagnosed with acute or terminal cancer of whatever region of the body.

My partner was diagnosed with testicular cancer in march. He received radiation for 3 months. The disease had not mastated or spread and he had surgery removing one of his testicles.

He is now in remission and i am pregnant with our first child. It doesnt always work out for the worst. Keep your chin up. Keep constant communication with your doctor and decide together what treatments are the best for u.

Getting a second opinion is VERY important!! This is your life thats being dealt with! I pray that nothing goes wrong. I am not sure what you should do personally but you could start making a video journal/diary for your loved ones to have of you. Just in case something goes wrong.

First of all, Im very sorry for your news. I cant imagine what all is going thru your head right now.

I would except this and take it as Gods will. I know it must be very hard. You must prepare yourself for the worst. But try to have hope and have faith. Research doctors.

First, I'm praying that it's not a terminal cancer!

I'd suggest getting more vitamins in your diet, even taking a multiple if you don't already.

I wonder Why it is that we can see people from satellites, but Not cure this!!!!!!

Pleease! Be strong! Remember that if God be for you, who could be against you?

Matt
