CALL YOUR DOCTOR. Swelling + tingling can be a sign of poor blood flow, or of potential nerve impingement because of the swelling. Either way, rest and talk with your doc.

I would check with your doctor is you're getting weird tingles, and definitely keep using the crutches. It's better to heal fully than to risk hurting yourself worse by jumping back into running too soon. That always sucks to be injured, speaking as a long-time runner it's awful when you're just itching to get back out there but are set back. In the future, I don't know what your past training plan has looked like but make sure you slowly build up a strong base before doing any speed work or excessively long runs.

i am also a runner. i would have to say, definitely use the crutches, but try using them for a few hours, then try walking on it. if it is too painful to walk on it, then continue using the crutch's. also ice any endured area's of your leg, foot, ankle, etc. when you don't need to be on your feet, stay off of them. when you start running again, don't put too much pressure on yourself, take it easy until you're completely healed.

Use the crutches until your pain fully leaves. Cut back on your running, mix in some biking, swimming, etc.

i would suggest following docs orders, but if you would like to check out an informative website with a discussion forum with a doc try myfootshop.com. did you get xrays to check for fracture? try the website i think you'll find it helpful in figuring some of the other conditions out you have too. use the source as a direct link to site and good luck!

i'd definitely do a lot of swimming. slowly build up, and then graduate to running. i think it would build up your muscles with no impact at all. ((unless you hit your head on the wall....))
