I work as a paramedic, and several times a day (when we get a 911 call) we risk our lives driving as fast as humanly possible to get to the scene. We run red lights, drive on the wrong side of the highway, and in general do things that run the risk of getting us killed every day. All that just so we can get to the patient as soon as we possibly can and provide care.
Trust me; in my town, when my ambulance company responds, no one gets there faster! Once I beat the patient to the scene, but that's a bit of a long story.
You have a good day...

when I was living in Raleigh about 12 yrs ago, very early one morning a man came from around the side of my duplex and approached me ( I was up and outside packing to move ) I slammed the door shut but the lock was getting jammed but it finally locked. I grabbed a knife and the phone. I called 911 and they are like is he trying to hurt you, I'm like wtf do you think at 4am in the morning. They said they would send someone. I called my hubby who was at his 2nd job at that time and he was about 15 to 20 minutes away and I told him someone was around the house and I was scared to death.
My husband made it home in 5 minutes. 45 minutes later the police show up, im like wth is the point, I couldve been dead by now, they were like oh they changed the name of this street like 3 yrs ago and I'm LIKE SOOOOOOOOOOO ???
First thing that was the scariest, when my husband was trying to unlock the door to get to me, I thought it was the guy who approached me , I was terrified.
second thing, 1 week later an elderly couple who lived not even 1000 feet from us were murdered in their home by 2 teenagers that fit the description of one of the guys who approached me.
It took me a good year to feel safe alone outside in the dark
45minutes we had to wait on police!
