* ...the cycle of life
* ...whatever you see you see, as in "projection makes perception"
* ...there is no purpose or meaning whatsoever (see nihilism)
* ...who cares?

You can either accept the fact that our collective presence in the here and now is just the result of complicated random interactions between atoms, giving rise to life and later sentient life...

Or you could decide that your purpose is to find your own purpose.

I do not believe you will find a better answer than the one you find for yourself. And we are all on the same boat, although some leave the burden of purpose on some hidden agenda that some all-mighty creator has, and that we have to trust. And you know what? If you believe in a god or not changes nothing in the end. No one still ever knows why we're here.

This is clearly the one question only you can answer, for yourself. And if you do not find your calling, you can still enjoy life as a little bonus. Make the most of it.

Nobody knows the answer to this question. We are here for a very short time between two eternities, one before birth and one after death. We must be here for a reason and it is up to every one of us to find out what we are here for?
I believe that our human ability at learning and knowing stems from the similarities between two systems. There is a system in the universe and there is a system in the human brain and the coordination between those two systems is KNOWLEDGE. Most of the discoveries are unlocking secrets of nature and that is possible because our brains works on the same system as the universe around us. This points out to the possibility there is one creator who made both systems. Call It God if you wish but it is not this biblical God who seems more like an old angry man. But there is certainly an order in creation. For myself I try to be the best person I can be and learn as much as I can and be helpful and useful to my fellow humans of all race and beliefs. It is why I answer questions of this nature.

Young lady you're an evolutionary turning point, because of your actions in our reality ,a hundred thousand years from now, people will be bringing life to a planet in a new solar system.(multi-generational inner galactic space craft) starts when you help bring about a societal evolution. One world one government and a hand for all people; food clothing shelter education and medical. Humanities need for you is what caused you to be.

There are only two answers to this question:
1) We don't really have a purpose so you have to make you own purpose...do something significant to make a mark on this world.
2) God created us and our purpose here is to earn our way to heaven. (You say there is no proof of this...of course there is not proof...that would be TOO easy-DUH!)

The bottom line, the basic answer is: survive to reproduce. That is the meaning of life. You can argue about god all you want, you can argue about where it all started, where it will all end, etc. But what you are doing now is surviving to reproduce.

I think that Carl Sagan said it best: "If you want your life to have significance, go out and do something significant." One significant thing that I do is to propound answers to questions on YQ&A, in the hope that someone may learn something. (Which is less likely in the Religion forum than in any of the others.)
