A woman's cycle starts from the first day of her period to the day before her next period. They last usually around 28 days, but every woman is differant, and the only way to be sure how long a woman's cycle is, is to mark the days of her period down on a calender. About 11 to 14 days after the first day of her last period, an egg is released from an ovary (the "sac" that holds all a woman's eggs) that travels down the fallopian tube which is connected to the uterus. If the egg is not fertilized, it starts to die and is then shed along with the lining of the uterus, which became thicker when the egg was released, in preperation for a fertilized egg. This is the period. The flow can last anywhere from 2 to 7 days, maybe a bit longer. Women use differant methods to "catch" the blood so it doesn't go all over the place. There are pads, which are kind of like mini diapers, that absorb the blood outside the body. There are tampons, wich fit into the vagina and are held in place by the muscles in there. They cach the blood before it leaves the body. Then there are mensral cups, which are flexible "cups" that fit in the vagina, against the cervix, to catch the blood before it exits the body.

Okay well a little advice, take a calendar and for the first 2 months mark the FIRST day of your menstual and the last day of you menstrual for 2 months then count the days from the first day of the first month to the first day of the second month and that is when you will start your next period for the following month. **But keep in mind that stress and your life play a big role in your cycle, your stress could either make you start your cycle early or delay it! Always be prepared. Also a few hints several days before nature strikes you will feel increasingly hungry tired and crampy it is your body disposing of unused tissue to help in creating a baby. And sometimes it may feel like you are starting your menstrual, but really you are ovulating which is the tiny amount of discharge in between periods. THat is normal, is it not normal if it is green or funky smell -Consult your doctor!
Good Luck :)

A woman gets a period usually once a month. (There are birth control pills or diaphrams, you can get that only let you have a period up to 3 times a year.) She get's a period because she has to drop her eggs. A woman only has a certain amount of eggs unlike men have many sperm. You can get pregnant at anytime but usually once you have your period you become more fertile two weeks after having wich this is when a woman has a better chance of getting pregnant. Anyways I hope this helps your research.........lol

how do they(?) stop what from oozing out? I thought it did come out. Tell your "bf" that a period is usually a cycle of 28 days that an egg gets ready to receive the sperm. When that time is up and there is no sperm available, the egg falls and the lining of the uterus sheds.

Tell him to be brave - grab the string between his teeth and yank it out. Flip it over his shoulder and bury his face in it. Mmmmmmmm! Like tomato soup!
