Eset NOD32 locking up computer?

i install NOD32 and restart my pc (Toshiba Qosmio G30-HD) running Windows XP MCE, and the logo would normally flash on startup but it comes up and stays there for about 10 min while my pc is locked up. its not frozen b/c i can get the task manager up but the whole system is focused on NOD32. I had this same program on my previous laptop (Toshiba Satellite A20) running XP Home and worked amazing. whats up????

Reboot in safe mode and get rid of nod.

reboot normally and download avast
