I am in the beginnings of restoring a 1968 Chevy C10. I've decided to keep the 307 motor instead of dropping a 350 in it and I'm thinking of stroking it. I've rebuilt several motors but haven't taken on anything like stroking a motor out. I'm wondering what are some of the major adjustments I am looking at?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated also!

Better to change your mind and go with the 350. The 307 is not an engine to modify or bore. In stock form it only produces 115 hp. The reason you don't see many 307s being bored and blown, etc. is because the block is cast out of an alloy that has very low nickel content. This makes the metal softer than other engines. That is why they had poor longevity. The 350 would give you much more to work with.

mm ... stroking the motor will probably be almost as much as getting a 350 lol .... but ur looking at what? a 350 crank? and maybe different rods and custom pistons? ... possibly turning down bearing journals if theyre different than the 307. ... honestly i wouldnt waste my time on the stroking ... if anything put the money into a badass set of heads a good intake and headers.

Stroking a motor is not for anyone. There are a lot of variables, for instance rod lenghts clearances ect. leave it to a pro sorry.
307 were smog motors although I have seen some tricked out to the max.

the pistons are your problem you will have to use custom pistons to do this not worth the expense the bore is small the same as a 283 best I can remember the only two that use that size bore the piston will be 500+ dollars
