I clean my cds with plain old peroxide and a coffee filter. Gets them sparkling clean and the coffee filter doesnt leave lint or finger prints. I know it sounds crazy, but it usually works for me.

If it is caused by a surface defect, you may clean it or have the surface "fixed" in some manner. If it is embedded, it sounds like a defective disk.

On the other hand, it could be the player's issue. Try the CD on a different player. Some CD drives may have an issue with it's laser or software.

You need to buy a CD cleaner. They have some spray you spray on it and wipe it off to clean the scratches off so it doesn't skip anymore.

Often times cleaning it off with a damp paper towel will prevent it from skipping. Good Luck :-)
