The best advice i can give is to start with the basics

A good trailor or a ute to put waste or grass clippings in and be careful. If you keep them for longer than 3 days it gets really smelly, so if you can tell the customer you generally put the waste in their rubbish.

Start with one 18" or 19 inch push mower Honda has the best name in Australia, and make sure you get a commercial grade one otherwise you will spend just as much fixing a domestic grade one.

Brush cutter or whipper snipper, Straight sharft Kazz brand is what i have 25cc engine and they are the best, not much goes wrong.

A blower, Echo brand is great, just start with the hand one first, if you get some big job you might have to invest in a back pack style one.

Then just get some basic hand tools that always come in handy like rake hedge trimmers, shovel, weeding folk, get about 30 heshan bags to put the grass clippings in also.

Public liability insurance is worth considering, i have it, and also insure your equipment.

This is all you need. As you do more quotes you will discover that you need say a ladder or a petrol hedge trimmer, which is great because you are making progess, so get the equipment as you can justify you need it. A uniform is also a good idea, because it can make the customers trust you and identify you easier.

So if you grow you equipment base as you expand that is what worked great for me, and i now have a Toro ride on mower and maintain more than 100 commercial properties, with the assistance of some great staff. Stick at it because if you choose to not use a franchise and go it on your own at first it can get tough, just stay out there and stay strong:0)
