Sorry, but if I went to another country, I'd adapt. Hell, if I go away for a week's holiday, I'll try and learn the local language before I go.
Guess this is a rant inspired by the fact that I love Christmas, and the nativity plays at schools - Christians can't do that any more over here! I think that's the biggest outrage - immigrants imposing their culture on their host country.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When not in Rome, do whatever those people are doing.
If host countries adapt and alter to allow for newcomers' cultures, that would basically defeat the purpose of those visitors going there to experience a different culture.

Absolutely!
If you look closely at social rather than political history, you will see that this has always happened over time.
It does not mean that any society needs to give up its basic tenets, such as the consumption of non consumption of alcohol. Rather it is the small adaptations and acceptance of differing overviews of life.
The places where people enjoy living on an everyday basis are generally those which have a certain acceptance of a polyglot culture, whilst retaining their own unique identity.

If someone is not prepared to adapt to the ways of their adopted country they should not go there. As you say if we moved to an Islamic country we would have to respect their customs. It should be the same here. The main problem is they wish to live in our country but not our society and that is a problem that must be addressed.

The host country should understand, honour and accommodate different cultures but not at the expense of their own.
However the visitors (either tourists or long term migrants) should also appreciate and respect the host countries values that brought them there in the first place.

When people come from other cultures to live here they should adapt their life styles to the laws and culture here.

Only to the extent that no damage is done to the host country's culture, traditions, economy or way of life.

If you drink alcohol, and wish to continue to do so, don't move to a place where it is frowned upon.
If you wish to live in a place where all the women are covered up, people prey 3 times a day, and you get stoned for adultery, then don't move to England.
If you move anywhere, it's up to you to fit in.
Sadly, in England we bend over backwards to help others fit in.
Goddamn we are stupid.
