maybe your mom is having a hard time realizing that is the start of her little girl becoming a woman..it is hard on any parent to realize this but if you want to, it is a good thing because you need to start taking care of yourself and learning what woman things work for you..tell her you will always be her little girl but you need to learn how to grow up but with her help and watching out for you as well..

I understand your predicament. My suggestion to you is to try Nair, or one of the other depilatories. It will be much safer and will keep the hair away longer.

Shaving can be a hazard. The more you shave, the faster the hairs grow and, before you know it, you're shaving every day. Do try the hair removal products first. Perhaps your mother will be more comfortable with this option.

By the way, I no longer use a razor to shave my legs because I have scars from where I gouged myself shaving. I use an Epilady, an electric-type hair removal, which is great for me.

Good luck!

I can see where you would want to shave at your age and with summer coming......If I can just give you some advice if you have lite hair on your legs don't shave past the top of your knee, your hair will get darker and you will have to shave more once you shave. Of course your pubic area shave around bathing suit, but on your legs I promise if you just try not going past the top of your knee you wont regret it you cant even tell I have hair on my thighs since I never shaved it it never got darker or thicker........mu sister who has very dark hair is the same way.... neet...nair are good to use no razor burn and legs stay smoother longer....maybe if you try just the part of your leg (being that your not hairy) your mum wont be so upset
Have a fun summer either way

i started the year i turned 14. really think about it. if you wear short alot, and are concerned about the hair, you can shave it. mine grows back overnight, and enough to shave every two days. if you never wear shorts, or only wear capris, only shave to right below ur knee. heads up, it's a pain. and the longer you go without shaving, the better. your hair DOES come back slightly darker. and stiffer. but when you shave, then don't for over a month, ur lags are REALLY smooth. i did that right before school started. and when i went to a swimming party, and the winter semi-formal dance. And i haven't shaved since august 15. i probly won't shave until around halloween, then i'll be wearing a skirt. it's really not all that it's cracked up to be. there was a stage in my 7th year that ALL the girls wanted to shave, most did. Now, in 8th year, all my friends say they wait as long as possible to shave. o yea, if you wear jeans alot, the back of ur legs won't grow as fast, cuz the jeans are rubbing the hairs down. HTH!

If your hair is light, it's no big deal. It will lighten more in the sun or you can use lemon juice. BUt then you will be getting a tan so it's just the flip side, isn't it.

Just don't let it be peer pressure that makes you do it if you do. Personally, if you were my daughter, I'd prefer you wait because once you start shaving you have to keep doing it 'cause it grows back in more course.

It will soften up again if you let it grow out, but it takes a couple of months.

i have hairs on my legs too! A LOT!! and shaving is not a bad idea, if you are willing to do it like 3 times a week.

Coz believe it or not...the hair grows everyday and it's getting thicker day by day. the more you shave it, the thicker it gets...

I prefer the waxing thing rather than shaving, it still make the hair thicker, but it last like a week or maybe more...

if you want permanent removal, better do laser, or LAS. it's a bit expensive, but it's also for good!

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

Weeelll, my mom wasn't all that comfortable when i started to wanting to shave. But i just talked to my mom calmly about it when she was in a good mood. I told her straight forward that I want to shave and I told her that i'll only shave when i really needed to. I told her that most girls have already began shaving and i feel really uncomforatble wearing shorts ,and then she understood. If your mom really dosent want you to because your hairs might get dark, you can get one of those electric shavers that actually pull out the hairs, so then it takes longer for them to grow back in, so then you will shave less also (they kinda hurt at first until you get used to it). and then as you get older you can juse use a razor. but anyways, i completely understand and good luck! :)

well if ur 13 and in middle school, i really think you should shave too. maybe your mom would let you if you tried Veet. i heard it works really well and it doesnt even use a blade. that way ur mom doesnt have to be worried about you hurting urself.

o hey, if you shave, it doesnt come in thicker, it just comes in faster. these people are wrong. i asked a cosmetologist about it. she said if you wax them, it takes long for the hairs to grow back. but for now, just go w/ Veet.

Yes. I started shaving when I was 11, and I turned out fine.
