i looked it up and it is a 1898 cameo nickel

It depends on what kind of condition it is in. This link will take you to a reputable coin company. Click on their FAQ link and look for the question about grading coins. That will take you to the answer which has a link for how they grade, with photos of coins in different conditions.

There is no such thing. The nickel of that date is a Liberty Head or what is called a V nickel by a lot of collectors due to the large Roman numeral V (5) on the reverse. There were no, what is called today Cameo anything back then. Cameo proofs are a modern thing, going back to say maybe 1950, if that early. Now you may have a 1898 Indian head cent which sells for $2 to $10 in circulated grades, more in mint state. The Indian head cent is made of bronze.

why don't you try going to www.usmint.gov. They have links to quite a few coin collecting sites that can give you an average price. Unless it is in uncirculated condition, don't get your hopes up too high. It may not be a "goldmine", but it sure is cool to hold on to 'em to pass down to the next generation.

It depends on it condition and the person who want to buy it, if he was really interested in these things and he is really rich then u could sell it with a very high prize, who know he may want to buy it with 100000$!!!!!!!!
