I have a Sharp Actius RD-10 Laptop and...?

Today it froze. Then I restarted it and when it came back on. My wireless lan adapter was missing and it came up found new hardware (network controller) and it wouldn't install it and I took out the hardware discs and reinstalled it and it still wouldn't work? Should I just go buy a external PCI slot adapter because this one is shot?
Or is there something I can do for this one?

Your motherboard is going bad if it forgot that you had a wireless lan adapter. You may have to think about buying a new one.
