No I've never pretended to be sad about that when I was happy. Although I wasn't dancing around the casket and throwing confetti, I wasn't going to pretend I felt bad.

No. When someone I love dies, I'm sad. When someone I can't stand dies, I'm happy and relieved.

I am able to remain objective regardless of my personal feelings tho. I can tell the family I'm sorry for THEIR loss. But that doesn't mean I'm sorry the person is gone if I didn't like them.

I had a cousin that tortured and humiliated me throughout our childhoods. She died in a car crash two years ago. I kept struggling with the guilt that I didn't care. I didn't go to her funeral and decided that it was her fault I felt this way, not mine.
