Always use a hard wire to connect any devices that will be used for wireless networking.
Once you have connectivity using an ethernet cable, be sure to create your wireless network before disconnecting the cable.
You will need to make sure your wireless network is configured correctly, and then you may need to restart the Laptop.
If so, when the Laptop comes back up "Check for available wireless networks" and click "connect." Then take out the ethernet cable, and you should be good to go.

1st you have to have a wireless network card
2nd you have to disable your standard eathernet port by going to,
start
control panel
the icon that says system
now the tab that says hardware
the a button that says device manager
then it will say network adapters click the + sign next to that
right click the eathernet card
then click disable
it may ask you if you are sure say yes
dont worry you are not deleting this you are just disableing it so there is no conflict between it and your wireless card
oh yea do this before connecting your wireless card
after that connect your wireless card install the software and the computer should do the rest if not it should give you trouble shooting advice

usually there's this icon on the lower left of the desktop to connect to a wirless router but if its not there go to connection settings and look for it there, if you found it click it and search for network in range then connect to it, if you didnt find it check if you installed the driver for the wireless LAN, but be sure you have a wireless LAN first, it is usually built in with new laptops, but if you dont have one, you can buy actually one for your laptop
