It's in their nature. They are like us in some respects. With an intelligence similar to that of a human being, they would be curious enough to see things that they may or may not seen before. I don't know. This is only a part of my thoughts on the subject.

because the are incredibily intelligent! I am a ex primate keeper, i could tell u many tales of all their interlect, from Apes to Lemurs. Incredible creatures. Chimps in particular, who share 98.9% of human DNA are astounding. Even the lower prosimians such as lemurs, are dextrus and work out fairly complicated puzzles and challenges.

Could be that primates, like all complex mammals, are highly intelligent. So they process much more incoming information; a lot of which needs further investigation.

intelligent brain function. it's all basic mammalian neurons working, they just ask more questions in higher primates, than your common lowly mammal. more questions = smarter, smarter = more questions.
They just get a kick out of learning.

somthing new, different, strange... just like people....curious to somthing new....like seeing somthing on the ground you just have to go pick it up to check it out.....
