there are numerous things to do in and around orlando that have nothing to do with the parks. not knowing what exactly you are "into" here are a couple links:

for shopping it's the millenium mall or mall of the millenium - something like that - sorry not a shopper myself. if you're going to have a car there are a few things outside the area witihin an hour or so also!

When I lived in Central Florida, we went to Gatorland, we drove down to Cocoa Beach to enjoy the beach.
International Drive is an area with tons of tourist attractions - Pirates Dinner Adventure (International Drive area) was fun. Titanic - Ship of Dreams is a pretty good exhibit (again, International Drive). WonderWorks, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Skull Kingdom (a bit scary for little kids), Pointe Orlando (shopping & restaurants), etc.
I posted a link for you below :)

Just drive down International Drive. There are lots of things there. And less than an hour drive from Orlando is Kennedy Space Center. Thats a very interesting place to visit. And of course, you have the beaches. Daytona, Cocoa Beach, etc. Have fun and enjoy your stay!!

International Drive (or I-Drive) has great shopping plus some museums and great restaurants. If you have the time to waste, try to go for a meal at Bahama Breeze but there is always a line up at the dinner hour and it can last for hours. The other good place for shopping is the Florida Mall.
