I get horribly dry skin on my legs, and they itch so bad. Nothing seems to help, do you have any ideas what would help?

Try gold bond (maybe just at night). Doesn't smell great, but it'll fix you up in no time.

If you have really dry skin, especially in the winter, use creams (as opposed to lotions) that contain shea butter.

Good Luck :-)

Without knowing anything about you I would bet you're bathing in chlorinated water. Most city water is chlorinated. This will give you dry skin, itchy skin, and dry hair.

Chlorine is an oxidizer and many people are sensitive to this. Many people don't know that our skin absorbs water. Try it for yourself. Weigh yourself before you get in the shower / bath and then weight yourself after. If you've heard of the nicotine patch, that works by dermal absorption (through the skin) Our skin absorbs chlorine and will take up to 1 month to completely dissipate the chlorine from your skin.

Chlorine also vaporizes when you shower in hot water. Some people get light headed or dizzy in the shower. The filter will help with this also.

If this makes sense the cheapest thing you can do is get a KDF shower head filter. You can find them on-line for about $40. they last a year, and you can install it yourself.

Most people find that if you remove the chlorine from your water you don't actually need to use as much lotion.

If you still have the problem you might be allergic to your detergent, soap or something like that.

Most times you see a dermatologist for these symptoms they will suggest trying a different type of soap and detergent.

Hope this helps.

Just try good old petroleum jelly in baby powder scent or Neutrogena sesame oil.

If you want an OTC go to the travel section in a supermarket or drugstore and buy sample sizes of different lotions. Remember that every skin is different.

Also, consult a dermatologist and ask him/her for free samples as well. Dry skin can result on many different factors, climate of where you live, what you eat, what you drink, smoking, etc.

Hi, I can recommend a product that I use and that has helped me so much. I have extremely dry skin from a medical condition and had myself raw from scratching. I started using a body serum and lotion from a company called Arbonne and within 3 days I was completely healed. I only have to put it on once a day unlike 2-3 times with OTC lotions. It is their NutriMinC lotion and you can view it in their online catalog at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com Good luck to you.

You have to apply oil and let it soak into your skin. You can buy some oil in the drug store that you put on after a shower. You then just pat your skin dry. For dry hands or feet you can slather them in petroleum jelly and put cotton gloves and socks on. Salt baths can also help.

I have the same problem. I use Precious Protein Oil made by Jafra. When its really bad, and then other times, I use baby oil.

I also wanted to add that aveeno lotion is also a great moisturizer. I get the Aveeno baby lotion because its the same sh*t only cheaper.

OIL WILL DRY YOU OUT AND GIVE YOU CROCODILE SKIN (PERSONAL EXPERIENCE) GO BUY A BOTTLE OF OIL OF OLAY AND USE THAT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. AND THEN SWITCH OVER TO A REGULAR LOTION YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH. SOME LIKE OILY SOME LIKE NON-OILY. NIVEA CREAMY IN THE BLUE BOTTLE IS REALLY GOOD FOR DAYTIME WEAR WHILE THE OILY ONE IS GREAT FOR JUST AFTER THE SHOWER. YOU ALSO NEED TO DRINK MORE WATER (YOUR SKIN AND LIPS ARE TELLING YOU THEY ARE DEHYDRATED).

see a dermatologist. Itching's not good. in the meantime, try using lotion, and drink plenty of water.
