Marie Sklodowska Curie - 1903 - on research of the radiation phenomena discovered by Professor Henri Becquerel. Born in Poland and resided in France. She was the first woman to be awarded any Nobel Prize. She also won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry - 1911 - for discovery of radium and polonium.
Maria Goeppert-Mayer - 1963 - for discoveries concerning nuclear shell structure. Born in Germany but resided in USA. She was the co-recipient with J. Hans D. Jensen
