earlier in the day i had a sharp pain on the front right side of my belly. Light cramps ever since. Just a little while ago went to the bathroom and there was some light spotting and i mean very light. I am afraid to go to the hospital just for them to tell me its nothing. What should i do?

Call the doc immediately. Don't be alarmed, just be informed!

I'm at 25wks and just went through this same thing. Have you had sex in the last 24 hours? That's a very common reason for spotting, but regardless I say go to the hospital. I'm on baby number 3, and went in. They still don't know why I was spotting, but they're working on it. The weird thing is my best friend is going through the same thing now as well. She's bleeding, not spotting though, and it's from a tear in her placenta. She had a really nasty cold last week that caused her to cough so hard she said it hurt her chest and ribs, and her stomach. So they think that's when she tore it.

We're both on bed rest until our next appts. I'm not supposed to lift anything over 10lbs, no sex, no caffeine, drink lots of water, and I mean lots, and I'm to try and keep on my left side as much as possible. I'm sure my spotting was from having sex 2 days before hand, but I wasn't going to take a chance. It was either, mine and my baby's lives, or my pride. Living won out over pride. Just go in. The ER staff and the OB staff have seen it all, and there's nothing wrong with being a concerned mom. Personally I'd rather I get told that I over reacted and everything is fine than be told that I could have prevented early labor by going to the hospital when my symptoms first started. Good luck honey.

Don't ever be afraid they might tell you it's nothing. It's always better to know, even if it's not anything!
I had the same problem around 23 wks. I was put on bed rest until the bleeding stopped. My main reason for the spotting was stress related. If I would have let it carry on, there could have been some serious problems!
Good luck and best wishes!

Call your doctor and he will tell you if you need to go to the er or not but when your pregnant thats nothing to play around with!
that happened to me and I miscarried. It started out with little cramps and barely spotting so I thought it was nothing about 12 hours later I was bleeding heavily so I went to the ER and to find out I was having a miscarriage. I hope that not the case with you! I just want you to know that you need to call the doc or go just in case! best of luck

it's A LOT better to go and hear it's nothing then to risk your childS life it's silly not to go and could be very harmful it could be labor or a placenta problem at 23 weeks your baby has almost 0 chance if born babies need to be at least 27 weeks to have a good chance of survival if it's labor they can stop it now if you wait and dilate or the water breaks it's OVER! PRE TERM labor can stArt as cramps and spotting.

When you are pregnant, don't ever be afraid to go to the hospital! the cramps can be normal, but not the spotting. If you really start spotting, call your OBGYN and talk to him/her. they might want you to go in and get check out.

did you do anything earlier? sometimes, sex can trigger some spotting. but cramping is normal, as long as your not bending over in pain. It's your ligaments and muscles strecthing.

Go to the hospital... now... even if it is nothing... because if its even a tiny chance that there is something wrong you need to go. I would rather go and have them tell me its nothing then to stay home and have it be something and have something happen to my child. I don't want to scare you but from someone who has had 2 losses (1 at 18 weeks and 1 at 17 weeks) any sign of blood.... go.... and Good Luck..

I think that it is probably nothing because I remember having that pain and it being my ligaments streching.

But if you in any way feel uncomfortable go to the hospital to get it checked. I would rather feel stupid about going in to the hospital then have something bad happen. Dont worry about going to the hospital and they tell you it is nothing....better to be safe than sorry!!!

Good luck with your choice.

I had some spotting and my doctor said little is nothing to worry about. In fact its a good thing she said it means the baby is growing and its pushing all the old stuff in your body out.

You should do what makes you feel comfortable. If lying down with your feet up and you're head down helps.Try taking benadryl it will help ease and stress in your belly.Me i lost 10 pregnancy's and I wouldnt I would go to the dr. But you have to decide if that is what you want. But please take it easy and don't lift nothing heavy or do allot of bending things to make the bleeding worse. Try a warm bath after the benadryl it may help.
