I used to work in a greenhouse. These are very popular novelty plants. But they end up being somewhat disappointing. They really don't eat that much. One bug a month is plenty. You can also use a bit of ground beef. The leaf doesn't open again until it has fully digested and this can take a while. Keep it moist, ie. keep the lid on so it doesn't dry out. The "mouth" will also close if provoked by something not edible. So, it's best to keep it away from kids and smart alecks.

I had one and if I remember correctly you are supposed to keep the soil moist but not wet. Shade but med to high temps. If you don't see it eat a fly after awhile you may want to try catching some and putting the trap and the flys in say an empty aquarium. During winter they aren't very active. Sorry that's all I can remember. Good luck!

THE FLY TRAP EMITS A SCENT THAT IS ATTRACTIVE TO FLIES AND THAT PROBABLY MEANS YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SET SOME FLIES INSIDE THE CONTAINER TO FEED IT. TRY YOUR LOCAL PET STORE. MAYBE IF YOU GET A BUNCH OF THE TINY BABY CRICKETS AND SOMETHING FOR THEM TO MUNCH ON WHILE THEY ARE THERE. YOUR PLANT WILL NOT EAT MORE THAN IT NEEDS.

I imagine that you would just keep the plant moist, not wet. It will feed on any small insect that dares to trespass.

did you get it at Walgreen's? saw hundreds of them last night in these little plastic boxes, bizarre, but I really wanted to buy one. Could you let me know how it's working out?
