Hey web writer, I just seen this post and thought i would give you some actual facts instead of the b-ulls-hit people seem to love to talk on here..

The footage of Steve Irwins death is or will be destroyed,
His manager Joe Stainton let out a statement a few weeks ago stating just that.
There is no way in HELL it could be shown on Television because it would break every censorship rule there is.
If it was stolen or ever leaked, The Australian government would be liable for millions as would the police.!!!

Just because he was being filmed when he died, does not mean we have the right to see it.
& to all the people saying he wanted us to see it, He was actually reffering to crocodiles and being attacked by one..
It comes down to respect and decency & i am a glad that is what you and i have!! Because these sickos on here are trying to justify seing a man die by saying its what he wanted.

That is the link where his manager says it will be destroyed..

Rest with the angels now steve xx

At first i thought that it should be shown and it would be crazy to see... but then I thought realistically about the situation. Realized its not part of the show and its not a movie.

If someone close in my family died i wouldnt want to see it, let alone let the world see it. Even though it might be tempting cause it sounds so intriguing to see... Its not anyones place to see it except the family.

It should be the families call. If they say no, then it should never be released. Death is the most personal thing people go through and to put it into the public square it de-humanizes them

I agree with you 100%,not only out of respect for his family but for the man himself,he was a 20th century adam if you would permit me to say so and we are so taken by the dramatics of the media that we loose sight of the essence of peoples work amd achievments in their lifetime ,similar to the way our younger generations have done with our elderly locking away a vast number of years of wisdom and throwing away the key,as a society we need to learn to cherish peoples life achievments like steve,s death and remember him for his work with nature,we could all learn something here, delmy d

Personally I would not want to see it. I can't imagine the family wanting to turn their loved one's last moments into some kind of freak show. I think the video should be destroyed. It would be obscene to release it so the sickos could salivate over it.

Steve Irwin, himself, stated that he wanted his death filmed. He was a teacher and I think he would be ~OK~ with it being publicly shown so that others could continue to learn from him. After all, he always showed the consequences of an animal biting him or his crew no matter how "graphic". He even went so far as to have the births of his children filmed and eventually shown on TV. This is the way he ACTUALLY was in the REALTY we call Life!

However, the *ULTIMATE* decision as to whether that video should be aired publicly STRICTLY belongs to Steve's immediate family __ONLY__!!! ...That is: Terri, Bob, Sr. (who lost his wife and now his only son), Steve's sisters and possibly Bindi (since she has already demonstrated her understanding of the situation by so bravely and eloquently taking her Mother's place on stage to uligize her father). __They__ are the ones who know Steve and his wishes the best, as well as their *own*.

What John Stainton said about destroying the film was totally out of his OWN GRIEF and shock at loosing his long time friend. He stated this only a couple of days after the accident happened, for crying out loud. It also goes totally and completely AGAINST Steve's OWN wishes! (THINK about THAT!) Stainton is NOT part of the IMMEDIATE Family, therefore has very little to do with the decision that the immediate family utlimately makes!

I feel that __IF__ the footage is aired, it should be part of the film Steve was working on at the time. It should __NOT__ simply be arbitrarily flung out into cyberspace without accompanying explanation by the experts who witnessed the whole thing.

Steve told Russell Crowe ( http://www.azcentral.com/ent/celeb//articles/0922russellirwin-CR.html ) he wanted a biographical film made of his life and that he wanted Rusell to play him. There is talk of this happening. Maybe instead of showing the actual footage of Steve's untimely demise an exact re-creation could possibly be done by special effects to accurately depict what happened (up to just seconds before Steve actually died ON the MAIN Boat before the helicopter arrived) could be substituted. This way the 'real thing' gets to be kept private by the family but the public can gain some closure of their own by "seeing" what happened to their hero.

!!!REMEMBER: Steve stated that he wanted to be remembered for his *enthusiasm and passion for wildlife conservation*.

We ALL should honor his wish for that by not allowing ourselves to be caught up in a narrow view of certain small pieces of his life and eventual death. (After all, death IS a part of Life!!!) He gave so much that he did, in deed, "change this world" for the better.

R.I.P. Steve, you are with your Mom, Sui and 'your' animal spirits in Heaven now.

Destroyed. A person died. Their soul must rest in peace. It accomplishes nothing but cause pain to show that. There will be some scum that tries to get it. I hope it is destroyed.

I disagree. Part of being a public figure and reaping the rewards of fame is the sacrifice of privacy, even in this horrible example. Truth be told, if Steve Irwin had respect for his own family, perhaps he would not have dangled his infant in front of a gator.

I think that it should be seen.......because all ppl should see that scientist who thought that he is above the nature and his courage drove him to Death.........so every1 should know that he is not above Nature......and every1 should respect Animals and doesn't mess with it................Steve Irwin was a realllly good man and i really liked him and im a big fan of him but what i didn't like in him is that he didn't care about his life!!!!!!He was careless.......
careless like.........He is sure that nothin willl happen to him..
and the result was his death in the end.

I think it would be interesting. Don't get me wrong, curiosity has the best of me. But it definitely should be up to his family.
