I was convicted of a Felony the other day and I know that wont disqualify me from being hired as a truck driver, but will probation prevent me from being hired? The charge was Grand Larceny and I paid my fine and did a few hours of community service but am on probabtion for 1 year.

YOUR RECORD SHOULDN'T DISQUALIFY YOU FROM GETTING EMPLOYED BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, IT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER APPLICANTS.

I don't see a CDL in your future. No trucking company is going to hire a
person who steals. They are more worried about their loads getting to & from
safely. That is a serious offense that stays on your record. And trucking co's
will look at and scrutinize all applications looking for certain things like that.
You can try....but, I say think of something else to do to earn a living.

doesn't your prob make it difficult to cross state lines? also you prob won't be able to get your hazmat. talk to your p.o. 1st to see if it would be a prob. stealing is a pretty big prob in the trucking industry. maybe study and get your permit 1st then find out about the training Really study I know tons of people that see "general knowledge" and think that it's just basic driving stuff. Study for @ least 2 weeks before taking the tests see if you can find practice tests too.

you are screwed...no one will trust a thief with a truck load of goods. Find another occupation and hope for the best...
