if we dont use these embryos then we cant get stem cells to cure many uncurable diseases. If stem cell research is going to save millions of lives across the US, then how can we say no to stop trying to save lives by killing only a group of cells. If we stop stem cell research then how can we cure Parkinsons, diabetes, and other diseases that cant be currently cured. So my question to you is do we stop stem cell research and let millions of people suffer, or do we continue the research and hopefully find a cure to these diseases?

I have NO problem with stem cell research. None. My issue is with embryonic stem cell research. They have not yet cured any diseases using embryonic stem cells, or any other stem cell. I think research is fine, but use what has the most potential without controversy. Enter cord blood stem cells and human tissue stem cells. The cord blood cells have been used for YEARS, and are still used. There's no controversy.
The ultimate question is: when does a group of cells become a life? It's not going to be answered anytime soon. Since we are so PC anyway, why not just tell the truth? Why not tell taxpayers EXACTLY what they are voting to fund: embryonic, adult, cord blood or all three? Why not work with the other stem cells and try to find the same cures there. I gave a speech on this a while back, and don't have my sources in front of me, but the conclusion I came to was that the drawbacks to embryonic stem cell research (the controversy, the risks of rejection, the risk of abnormalities, etc.) were more than the potential cures. There are some diseases that embryonic cells would work best on. Since the issue is so controversial, I think embryonic stem cell research should be funded privately, not fedrally.

Stem cells don't only come from embryos. That is just the most controversial way to get them. Stem cells come from cord blood, when a baby is born, also from bone marrow. As long as you have the fight good vs. evil, the embryonic stem cell research will be hailed as bad by some, and good by others.

NO! i could kill a hundred one 12 months old human infants with my undergo palms if it meant that we could desire to locate a treatment for many cancers or spinal twine injuries! Ovum that are in no way GOING TO BE babies could desire to a hundred% be used to further scientific analyze in to Stem Cells. And once you communicate approximately that there are hundreds of fertilized ovum sitting interior the deep freeze of Fertility Clinics which will finally end up in an Incinerator simply by fact the couple would not prefer the "extra" ovum as quickly as they have a useful being pregnant... there is not any doubt in my techniques the place those ovum could desire to bypass... think of roughly it... Burned as biohazardous waste or Used to probably help treatment maximum cancers and heal spinal twine injuries each and each month a woman would not have a toddler, she is KILLING AN EGG... Is THAT evil? the incontrovertible fact that she 'helps' an egg to be flushed from her physique? Then why is it incorrect to apply eggs that would have purely died and been flushed in any case? Eggs do no longer = human beings! Eggs are purely yet another sort of tissue that gets flushed from a woman's physique each and each month... what's the cope with human beings screaming that each and every EGG is a existence as quickly as we 'kill' 12 a 12 months if we don't get pregnant? I say use um simply by fact it extremely is a decision between a flush or an test!

Stem cell research is not illegal. Only federal funding for certain types is. Stem cell research is ongoing in places right now in the US. People can spend as much private money as they wish on stem cell research.

Hi. The day will come when we understand DNA and cell function well enough to make artificial stem cells. But there will still be moral issues. Such as how long should we keep people alive if we had the knowledge to make life indefinite.

There are other ways of finding cures for things. Don't forget, embryos are living humans. It doesn't matter what trimestre, right at conception, and human is created.

people aren't deliberately doing it to get stem cells...
if they're available anyway, use them to help people...
people are against it until they or someone they love need it, ie. leukemia and will die unless they get the treatment
