Kim Basinger bought a town. There have been towns auctioned on ebay. So yes, you could buy a town.

Depends on the country..

may be cheaper just to buy the mayor councillors president etc..

Buying land usually isn't an issue.

Buying freeholds and building your own city may be a better way to do it though.

If you do... be sure to establish a new nation etc...once you get things straightened out.. tax free zone, port shipping.

Just buy an island.

You could buy up any land that is available but chances are you would be paying huge property taxes.

It would probably be easier to "populate" a town with a few thousand of your followers.. so that you always win elections.. It would be harder for a city though because you'd need to have a lot more followers to get the "popular vote"/

I can work out a plan for you.. it'd probably be easier taking over a town or village first though.
If you need a lt. or general manager contact me. I'm a micronation myself so I have a good idea of how these "insane" power tricks work.

This could be really cool for the church.. like just imagine if say you got together a few thousand people and started taking over village by viillage raising property taxes to huge rates.. then expropriating the land to the city before selling it to yourself... crazy, then moving on to a new place. Of course you'd probably get hit with higher up taxes so unless you hold the expected return value of the land you don't get to keep it. That is how taxes are designed... you have to "generate" growth or you loose the property/tools etc..

That is why freeholds are important, because it gives you exclusive use of the land. If you do it in a "tax free" country you're set.

just remember bribing public officials is a crime in some places.. be sure not to insult them.

There have been attempts to establish "new countries etc.." however the general idea is that any ships need to be registered to an already established country, and most lands "are under the sovereignty of an already established country."

There are some exceptions. In general most countries either require military rule, or popular rule.

Cities usually fall within a country.. so you'd need to have approval of the military rule or the popular rule.

NO!!! even if your intentions are good, it's the government of that country to take care of its people. Don't try be like god because you need to understand the culture, society, the history, and so on of the city and you will get so many people to hate you because you have a different vision from them.

Be humble and see the good in poor nations. THey have strong family values because they don't have million dollar cars. Look at them as equals... not money wise.

You can probably do that here in the USA!! Just buy up property as it comes up for sale...

if you have trouble with the local government you could always rent out your property to people who are on your side for a very low price... and get them to help you vote everyone out of office.

If you could negotiate with that country's government and come up with a deal: sure. You'd just have to hope they kept their end of the bargain.

each city has its own planning and zoning guide. most towns wont let one person buy the entire thing. you can start a NEW one. (see ave maria florida) but not buy the whole thing.
