Oh, this happens to me a lot. Well, i had to learn to meditate and force myself asleep. This is an outline of a visualization that I do.
1. Breathe in an out deeply several times until you are focused only on your breathing and have minimal thoughts running through your mind.
2. Every time you breathe out visualize all your stress leaving your body in a black cloud. As you breathe in visualize pure light and joy entering your body. You can choose your color but I usually choose gold as it is comforting, and dark color would probably be counterproductive.
3. Visualize your body filling up with the colored light of your choosing, until your entire body from your head to your toes has been touched by the light.
4. Sustain this feeling for a while and then let it fade until the light is just glowing slightly around you.
By this time, I always fall asleep and I feel great the next day. Bonne Chance!

Don't have any caffeine for about 12 hours before you want to go to sleep. Warm milk before bed also helps, as well as a hot bath with soothing bubble bath (lavender scented is a nice one), a nice massage, calming music, some herbal teas such as chamomile might help...

Stay awake until you simply can't do it anymore. That is the only thing that has ever worked for me.
Oh but Benadryl works too. It is an OTC allergy med but it makes you sleepy. You can buy the generic for $3-4
