What can we do to help?

Other than in times of national emergencies (war, natural disasters, etc.) there is no place on earth where, at the end of the day, markets do not throw out food that rotted before they sold it.

There is enough food, it the economics and governments of countries that keep it from reaching people. All governments are, to some degree, Kleptocracies. People starve so others can be wealthy.

However the greatest evil ever devised my man that, like atomic power grew beyond his ability to control it, is religion.

People will suffer as long as there is religion, and there will always be religion because it makes people suffer (religions need to make people suffer so they can sustain themselves - they consume human pain to live, so they make sure there is plenty of pain).

Why else would Falwell and Robertson both say (the moment it happened) that America DESERVED 9/11 and that THE CHRISTIAN GOD was responsible for bringing down the towers and killing 3,000 people?

That is the hate-mongering mentality that controls America today.

There will certainly be no changes for the imaginable future.

I think major-war (conflicting religious beliefs are the leading cause of death for all humans throughout all of history) or a pandemic: whichever comes first will solve some of the population overload. My vote is on disease.

Only if the rich nations show some compassion—sorry, many of them do, but it's not enough; all of them should.

The most powerful country in the world could start donating food as foreign aid instead of armaments.

What we need to do is turn our swords into plowshares, then everyone could become a farmer.

There is enough to go around; it's just not shared equably.

I guess that's several suggestions.
My mind is wandering: I've been at this too long.

Stop reproducing, you'll get more bang for the buck then, when it comes to food. All the bang goes to creating the children in which there is no food for. They should really think about those things before they get to reproducing. But other than that. Donate your 8 cents a day to the Feed the Children programs.

personal feelings are irrelevant at this point. things will only get worse before they get any better, humanity needs a great big disaster to make us come to the realization that we are all dependent on each other and all the greed and wild expectations ,hopes and dreams crashes due to our own stupid selfishness and prejudices, but I guess that is asking too much of ourselves,so the beat goes on,look inwards my brother, even the founding fathers of this great nation of our,s are rolling in their graves over what we do as a nation right here in our backyard, thank you for the question, delmy d

IF YOU REALLY MEANT TO ASK IF THE PEOPLE COULD BE IMPROVED. I DOUBT IT THEY ARE TOO BUSY FIGHTING AND RAPING WOMEN AND HAVING MORE CHILDREN TO BOTHER WITH GROWING FOOD.
IF YOU MEAN CAN THE WORLD DO ANYTHING TO FEED ITS SELF YES THERE IS PLENTY THAT COULD BE DONE. THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FERTILE SOIL ON EARTH THE FEED EVERYONE AND NO REASON FOR PEOPLE TH GO HUNGRY. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS GET EVERYONE INVOLVED IN DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

A simple enzyme could be developed that allowed human stomachs to digest the cellulose in weeds and grass and some bushes, and they could then graze along with any animals in the vicinity.
