get yahoo messanger and turn it on everytime you get on line

Depends which program you are using.

If you are using a Yahoo account, then install messenger and it will pop up when you get an email.

If you are using outlook or outlook express then set an automatic send and receive every few minutes and make sure it plays a sound when you have received an email.
