When A-Rod was a Mariner no one gave him any slack. So why is it because he is in New York and having an off-year that everyone jumps on him?

Its New York and the fans are closed minded to the fact that Alex Rodriguez was not always a clutch hitter, the fans want championships and World Series Titles, if a player is not executing they let Streinbrener know by booooing him off the field.

252 million reasons,,, youngest player at 450 hrs that ever walked the planet.. two time mvp and counting..its just never gonna ever be enough.. when hes done hell have 800 hrs.. 3000 hits..and hes done it clean... only with alex can these numbers be an afterthought.. now as nugsters dumb comment about turning down 200 million with the mariners.. it was 100 million tops, and you are asking this man to turn away from another 150 million dollars.. would you do that.. or stay in a small market that wasnt looking to increase payroll to make the team better.. remember they just let johnson go to the diamondbacks and the free agent market was something that the mariners werent committed to in the future....he needs to win a ring and play well all through the playoffs with no dumb errors to get the respect he deserves... it was pitching that has hurt the yankees over the last few years not arod, and it will be pitching that will get them to the promised land this year.. so big money, big market, yes good looks, and i bet with a couple of rings he will still have his detractors because 252 million dosent make you infallable and it never will... 35 hrs .. 120 rbis.. and 290 is considered a off year... only with alex.. only with alex.. oh and it was pitching that hurt the rangers tooo

When he was in Seattle, A-Rod was not paid nearly as much as he is right now. Currently, he gets 25.2 million dollars a year. Shouldn't people who get more money be expected to contribute more to the team? A-Rod clearly is not performing to his full potential, but he's doing OK. He has over 100 RBI's. Also, A-Rod is now on a competing team. He's playing with people who are almost as good with him, so that gives the impression that he is no longer the team's best contributor.

Is really simple once u get to the Yankees you better play at the level you are expected to play or you're going to get on the boss bad side and we all know that's not a pretty good sign. Other thing is that he is getting paid more than when he was in Seattle, but no one says that he won MVP last year u can't take that kind of things away from him. If people wants to see him play better why don't they get in his position to see how hard is to play at big league level, nobody gets to the majors by playing bad and especially the Yankees if he is still in the line up is because he is doing something right to stay there. Georgie Porgie u shouldn't talk talk because Detroit is going down the drain slowly but surely to the bottom of the pit.

Becuz they expect him to be play perfectly in every game. Being human does not count when your a Yankee. The fans want them to be super-human and he doesn't seem to handle the pressure as well as he should.

Don't those stupid Yankee fans know that the more they boo him, the harder it is for him to perform the way they want him to?
If your girlfriend kept booing you in the sack, would you guys be able to perform? I think not!
If they all just shut up or better yet, actually cheer for him, that would relax him a little and he'd play like the A-Rod I know and LOVE!!!!!!!!!

Plu$ ~ other team$' fan$ are ju$t jealou$ of the money he make$.
It would take most of us about 2 years or even longer
to earn what he earns playing ONE game!

because New York is one of the hardest places to play. New Yorkers like the fact they are the best team in baseball, and they want everyplayer to be on, every night. A-Rod, may be having an off year, but New York is constantly under the microscope from fans and media.

he wasn't greedy as a mariner as he is now once you get that big check stats don't matter he is a great player but also an arrogant selfish player he got his money from the rangers after being disloyal to the mariners by rejecting a contract extension worth 200 million and then he put his stats up so big teams like the red sox and yankees presued him and then he screwed the rangers by saying he wanted to win a championship with a contender when 3 years before he gave all this crap that he signed with the rangers to bring a championship to texas

First of all, the Yankees have a higher tradition and history than the Mariners do. No offense to Seattle. Steinbrenner pays a lot of money for the best players to play well. Like him or not, he pays a lot of money and expects results. For $252 million, you better be pretty good.

Because he can't perform in the clutch...I'm an A's fan and never feared A-Rod when he was with the Mariners...

There's a ton of players who get paid a fraction of what he makes that are more feared in the clutch...

because it is the yankees hes on a whole other level now, more expectations. people need their gossip. so yeah. he needs to be perfect. no slacking or having an off year on the yankees. or any huge team known almost everywhere.
