Why was it any different when we were kids?
We got our butts beat if we did something. Sometimes if we even thought of doing something. We grew up just fine. We knew how to behave and you better believe we did behave. Now kids know that you can't do anything to them. So they are running wild. Time out is a joke. Sorry that is not punishment. Smack a kids butt and he'll think twice the next time.

There is a big difference between a good butt whipping and abuse!

Yes I do whip my kid if he needs it. Which isn't very often because he knows if he misbehaves what will happen. And it's not go to time out.

Schools can not administer corporal punishment and I would never imagine doing any such thing to my students. I think the parents need to support their teachers and not just assume the problem lies with the teacher and not their child, but I don't think any school should ever have the power to administer corporal punishment. At home it depends on the family. I think that an occasional spanking when given without anger from the parents can be appropriate, but whenever a child is hit in anger or is spanked too much then it needs to be dealt with. I was raised in a house where we were given spankings. They were very few spankings that I got, but I sure never did the activity again. And most of the time I got a spanking was for something severe such as hurting another person or doing something dangerous. I came out very well adjusted and so did my siblings.

Your question is not clear. Corporal punishment (striking a student) is no longer allowed in public schools, and would be foolish in any school, private or public, these days, when striking a child is no longer considered a good way to teach a lesson. When I was a boy schools had a tool called a strap, made of leather, like a three inch wide leather belt. Teachers would hit you across the palms as punishment.
Today that is child abuse. Parents are routinely arrested or there children taken away by authorities if they are suspected of hitting a child Teachers are required by law to report any signs of abuse, and are taught what to look for, such as bruises in places where normal injuries do not occur. If they are found to have not reported, they can be arrested too. Things have changed a lot, from the old days when Daddy simply took off his belt and gave you a good whoopen.

When a child does not do what they are supposed to do the only people who are to give corporal punishment are the parents. If they act up at school call the parents no one else has the right to lay a hand or punish a child in anyway except the parents. The only punishment a school should be allowed to give out is a time out, detention, suspension, or expulsion but that is not corporal punishment.

I'm not sure what your question is, but I would like to tell you that corporal punishment has no place anywhere.
How can we hope for the world to be a better place if we cannot even get along with the children in our lives.
If you are so angry that you could hurt a child by something s/he has done then you need to remove yourself from the situation and remind yourself that you are dealing with a child, and you are the stronger adult who understands life better.
Nothing is learned from violence except fear and self-loathing which breeds more fear and hatred.
There is always a way to deal with things with love. And if love is not in the cards at that moment, send the child away, or leave yourself and return calmer with a plan.

I'm sorry, but the school tyrants don't have business laying hands on your children, and I disagree with fellow conservatives on this. It might be necessary at home, but usually isn't and should be a last resort.
