I am doing a science fair project about what type of mulch plants grow best in. I already know Pine Wood and Black Diamond mulch.

sugar cane mulch is also excellent. any organic mulch is best because as it breaks down it releases nutrients into the soil, improving the quality of it, and feeding the plants at the same time. (organic is something that was once alive)

Did you know about Cypress mulch? I think it is Cypress anyway...

One of the Mulches.. I think it is Cypress... does not float so it will not wash away in heavy rains.

I suppose it depends on what part of the country you are. In SoCal we have Redwood compost and horse manure mulch(THE BEST!) and all kinds of named prepackaged stuff like Kelloggs, EB Stone. They have stuff like Fir bark, mushroom compost, etc.
Good luck :-)
