at the beach that my neighbor goes to, there is always frogs that she catches that are about the size of my thumb. they are really small. they are like a light brown, and i believe thay may have black spots. what kind is it? i wanna know so i can take care of one

I'd say probably a Leopard Frog but ith out a picture I can not be sure. http://images.google.com/images?q=Leopard+Frogs&hl=en&lr=&rls=DAUS,DAUS:2006-08,DAUS:en&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title There are lots of pictures there. They can be brown with black spots and/or green with black spots. Unless the frog is injured though, I believe wild animals should remain just that wild, especially since you don't know what it is or what kind of care it needs. I've seen so many post about you wanting to work in a petshop, you should go buy your pets there, that way you can learn about your pets care and you can learn about working in a pet shop.

It's probably a toad, actually, but I'd need a lot more to go on--like whether there are expanded toe pads (tree frogs), or warty skin (toads), dorsal ridges (some frogs and toads), and white markings, etc. But here's a link to frogwatch with a list and photos of common NY species.

sounds like a Mink Frog or a Northern Leopard Frog

More then likely by the size you told they are probley just your normal tree frog
