That's because elections are held in November. Look at the years where there are no elections. The prices go up every spring as demand increases, and goes down ever autumn after the summer driving season ends.
You sound disappointed that gasoline prices are dropping. You must be one of those cold-hearted Republicans who likes to see poor people suffer.

The reason gas prices are down is because the summer travel season is over. After the elections it is the holiday season which means the prices will go back up because more people will be travelling. It is not even Economics 101. It is just common sense.

True... and if you look back... they went down briefly prior to Bill Clintons Election and re-election... AND prior to the Bush-Gore race...
It's because the price ALWAYS goes down with the end of summer !!
What I'm curious about is the legality / ethics of Citgo shipping lower priced heating oil ONLY into Democratic party strongholds !?!

The period of late Spetember, early October is always the cheapest time of the year. After summer driving time and before winter heating season. Its referred to as supply and demand. As demand decreases and the suopply grows the price drops to fuel sales.

Supply...demand...heavy driving period, lighter driving period...common sense, Democrats...everything has an opposite.
Beach Bum: Congressional elections are held every two years, presidential every four, and senator every six. That means there is a "major" election every two years. Unless you only vote for president. What kind of informed voter is that?

I HAVE noticed for about half a century that prices at the pump fall at the end of summer when most of the vacationers have gone home. Forget the "conspiracy" bit (unless you have an agenda). It's all about supply and demand.

It's a conspiracy!!!!!!!! It wouldn't have anything to do with decreased demand now that the summer driving season is over would it???? Then let's see...November...what happens in November again? How about the beginning of the holiday season and increased driving again. It's all supply and demand.

One political party in the U.S. can not dictate WORLDWIDE oil prices.Get a clue! It's supply and demand, market forces, weather ( no hurricanes affecting supply) oil reserves and things like that.

Yes, they always do that. It's the same with making promises for the majority and then the promises never come through.
