Seek the advice of your dermatologist.

i've used proactiv too and never exfoliate because it might not go "with" the product and give other results. the renewing cleanser (1) of proactiv has some beads that will exfoliate your skin. over exfoliating or scrubbing is bad for the skin.
if you think proactiv is not enough for your skin, maybe it isn't working much on you. you can ask your dermatologist for another option.

The "renewing cleanser" does exfoliate. It has tiny particles in it to do the job. Don't OVER exfoliate or it will irritate your skin and you'll get breakouts again! Just stick with the Proactive system, that's all!

Proactive contains chemical ingredients that exfoliate your skin. You don't need to add anything else to your cleansing routine.

exfoliate at night to avoid redness. limit it 2 or 3 three times a week.

No....the product does the exfoliating.

Too much and it will make the acne worse.
