An MRI is not radiation, it is magnetic resonance and has not proven to be dangerous.

HOWEVER, Check around to satisfy yourself. If the need is severe, you are the ONLY one to make this decision, because you are the one to deal with any consequences.

The dangers before 12 weeks are only theoretical, but read as much as you can before you make your decision.

I answered the last question, so I figured I'd answer this one as well.

An MRI of the brain is typically done with a radiopaque dye. The MRI itself isn't harmful, but I'm not sure about the dye. I would ask your doctor and the MRI tech about it. Explain that you're trying to conceive and would like to know the possible side effects if any, on a fetus. They usually keep two different kinds of dye on hand for various other health reasons, but I'm not sure about pregnancy. Good luck.

Are you asking if it is safe? Well, if so.......I would guess (and guess is all ) that it probably is. But I sure would ask your O.B. Gyn to be 100% safe. Some women probably have to have MRI's when they are pregnant for emergency situations, back trauma, or brain aneurysms and injuries. You would think there would be a safe way. Good Luck and let me know cause now I'm curious too!

I would think not even if my Dr.swore up and down that it was safe. Its radiation, and it's you baby's life. Radiation is posion.
