Most of these ones defending rap have no idea of even why they do THAT. Sure they'll tell you cause it's expression or whatever , but the only real reason they like it, is because their friends do. They wouldn't go against what all their homies like cause..that wouldn't be cool. Sound like a bunch of sheep? , you betcha!

I completely agree with Sixstring down below. Most people listen to it because for some God-awful reason being gangster, ghetto and whatever else is "cool" these days. Its all based on insecurity, people not having an identity ie: "low character people" that are not capable of making thier own chioces. They just emulate other peoples identities. Very similar to the Punk fad in the 80's (bunches of misfit kids embraced it, much like rap now). While rap may never go away completely, it is on the decline.

It is music. Get some education. Rap is nothing more than poetry with instrumentation. I do agree that all rap is not good, but rappers like Kanye West, JayZ, Nas, Common and Talib Kweli, have important issues to push in the world, such as AIDS awareness, teen pregnancy and drug use. So don't be so simple minded. Any genre of music has it's good ones and its bad ones...

That is your preference. People are entitled to their opinions. Some people think metal is not music, others think techno is just noise.
Technically by the definition of the word music, rap is music.

I think that there is not much of a point to it, although I have to say I do listen to Kanye West and Outkast sometimes...as well as the beastie boys..but they are white rappers, but yes I agree most of it is complete sh*t and not worth my time...I definetly prefer Tool, nine inch nails, buttholes surfers, Toadies, bob dylan and Pink Floyd of course.

its a form of expressing yourself through music. and you may say that its noise but i could easily say that about punk rock and someone else could say it about another type of music, but its all about a way for someone to express themselves. so before you go stereotyping rap just because you dont like it, think about this: if you hate it.......why make a discussion about it?

Everyone has different taste in music. If we all liked the exact same music, we'd be bored as hell. Lighten up!

Apparently your listening to it......stop listening to it if its just noise. Let me guess you listen to that punk rock crap huh or heavy metal where they are banging guitars on their heads and screaming......hmmm figures.!!!!

How can you say someone is being immature, when you've asked an immature question.....Look whose calling the kettle black?
