Chavez is a strange bird indeed...but the poster is correct in stating that Chavez has looked out for America's poor by donating millions of dollars worth of home heating oil to folks in the Northeast. This is a fact. What Bush has done for America's poor is debatable. Does this make Chavez a good guy? Probably not. But does Chavez being a bad guy make Bush a good guy? Probably not. Pick your poison.

It would be very difficult for anybody to do a worse job than Bush, especially in looking after the poor.

Chavez is doing an extremely good job in Venezuela, and seems to be helping many other countries too.

I can't believe you would even ask a question like that. Whatever happened to handling our internal problems without giving them to the rest of the world to scrutinize? Chavez doesn't do anything but spout insanity to the idiots who buy his hypocracy and follow fellow bipolar leaders such as the ones running Iran and Syria. If he was looking out for the American poor, he sure as hell wouldn't charge so much for his oil...I think everybody should boycott Citgo and hurt Chavez in his pocket.

No, He does get better press. He is giving out a very small amount. He has purchased your opinion very cheaply!

Communism on paper sounds great, but where is the stocked shelfs vs the long lines & empty shelfts? Where is wealth created? What does the masses willingly pay a premium for?

Not really. All Chavez offers is some discounted oil to Harlem residents...and cheesy rhetoric. Bush doesn't have to do much to top that.

Chavez can't take care of the poor in his own country. He wants to look good to those who don't know him.

Are you kidding with this question? Why don't you ask some Venezuelans how Chavez is taking care of them, and then you may get the answer you are looking for.

No, Chavez is a moron! Not to mention a dictator. Maybe he should be worrying about his own poor...
