Pretty much anything by Green Day, Bowling for Soup, Blink 182.... etc. most kids like that pop punk stuff.
But alot of kids actually do like songs by the classics like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath so think about what kind of kid you're looking at and see if he/she is more into modern stuff or old school.

Definately start with Linkin Park, their music will branch you off in to dozens of great bands.
