There isn't much that can be done.... my niece had some sicko playing with himself in his OPEN FRONT DOORWAY while he watched her through her bedroom window (she is 13!!!) My brother called the cops and all they could do was give him a warning because he was in his own house!!!! NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! But apparently since he was in his own house (door open or not!) they can't arrest him... needless to say he has to watch his back in that neighbourhood (and this is a nice rural subdivision). Don't know the legalities around lawnchairs..... keep your blinds shut at night is about the best I can tell you...

Its perfectly legal to sit in your own yard day or night. As far as peeping in neighbors windows from another yard sitting in a chair - thats not easy to do I would imagine.
KEEP your windows curtains or blinds closed at night! if you have aircondition that is. Its a no brainer that people want privacy. At night that privacy is given away when you keep the windows open. Even people passing by on the road in front of your house can peep in at night when you have the lights on.
Anyone I know of tries to keep the windows closed at night. If you are the one doing the peeping - you need help. If your neighbor is the one sitting in the yard, I doubt he's peeping at your kids from his chair in his yard at night. Now if he's in YOUR yard peeping in any window - CALL THE COPS ASAP and have his butt hauled to jail. And Keep your windows closed.

I can see it now. You placed your lawn chair on a spring mounted platform that's anchored deeply in your front yard, and with the pull of a side lever, your chair gently launches higher and forward, extending across the street and up to the second floor bedroom window of where little Missy Misteltoe sleeps. Missy never expects her privacy to be breached at the second floor level so there's an opening in the curtains. She awakens sometime during the night to light shining in her eyes.....your flashlight beam. Missy screams, the parents and neighbors are alerted, the police are called, and there you are still projecting 130 feet across the road and 35 feet in the air outside Missy's window, and then the news truck pulls up.
No, don't be doing this. Get yourself a book to read in your chair. Don't alter the design or mount it on anything, and don't be looking for legal ways to act on all these whims.
I'm just trying to help. You can trust me. :)

You should not be doing this. It does not matter if things are in plain view, you are still encroaching upon their territory by being a nuisance. There are cases on the books stating that police cannot use surveillance of homes to stop them from dealing in drugs. If that cannot be done, then it certainly is not permissible for people to be peeping in neighbor's windows.

It sure is freaky! But technically, the law states that if your window is open and curtains are drawn open in the front yard, you should have the reasonable expectation that some people will notice. Doesn't mean the person doesn't need help that purposefully glares into peoples windows like a sport.

Your creeping me out Chester. Typically there are peeping laws on the books. We are not supposed to be peeping on our neighbors, especially children.
Punishment, you go to the slammer and get severely used by Butch and Ike since you are such a sissy criminal.

Rights and duties are the two sides of same coin. Mind it your right is terminated at the point where the nose of other person begins.

That's disgusting. Hopefully people who do that get sent away to a PTIMA prison. And have a nice weekly acquaintance with Bubba.

um...I like to close my blinds at night so people can't see me sitting on my couch on my computer or watching tv or doing whatever it is that I do...that usually helps keep the "peeping" down.
