There's two basic reasons colors look different on different computers and different operating systems (we'll assume you're looking at the same web site on both computers, so you're looking at the same "source")...

1) The screen- the actual screen is the biggest variable here. Not only does Apple use different brands of screens for it's OWN products (samsung, sony, etc...), but... there's even a difference between two similar screens made by the same company. It's just too difficult to make them exactly the same.

2) The gamma curve- say wha...? Mac and Windows PCs come with different gamma curves by default.... basically, being told to interpret colors differently. For the most part, things will appear darker on a PC than they will on a Mac.

The way to compensate for these two differences is to "calibrate" your monitor using a professional color calibration tool... if you're a real geek. ;)
