I was looking at a newspaper delivery ad in the paper and it said you are an "independent newspaper carrier" for this particular newspaper company. What does it mean when your considered an indpendent carrier, and is this a good part time job?

I wouldn't want it. It doesn't pay very much and you have to get up every morning at like 3 a.m. to deliver the newspapers.

I means you sell and deliver newspapers. I would not consider it a good job unless you are a high-school kid looking for a little part-time job.

It means you're an independent contractor. You aren't technically an employee of the paper, so you aren't eligible for any benefits (medical/dental, etc) like you would be if you were, say, a reporter, or worked in their offices. They also don't deduct any taxes from your paycheck, so when tax time comes around you're responsible for paying the IRS.

It means that you pay for the papers and then have to collect for them. If you don't get paid, too bad for you, you still pay for the papers.

It basically means you are on a contract basis.
