I am looking at renting a space at 3505 South 54th Street at South Tacoma Way. Is this a good area?

In my opinion, all of Tacoma is a bad area. Tacoma is like Seattle's ugly stepsister that no one likes to talk about. It was rated as the most stressful city to live in in 2004. I wouldn't recommend it. If you are looking for something reasonably priced, you could head a little farther north toward Seattle in one of the south suburbs (Kent, Tukwila, Renton, Seatac, Burien, etc.).

Tacoma, like the young lady previously responded, is rough. My parents live in Lakewood, which is outside of Tacoma. Federal Way, Puyallup, Steillacom are much better. They are all within a brief commute to Tacoma. Heading north of Tacoma, prices start to rise, especially in and around Seattle.
