My offer expires at midnight tonight and four years of in home service sounds pretty good. I can change RAM and replace a drive but I'm wondering if having the parts coverage is worth it. I truly appreciate your input!

The question is really whether you want to keep that PC for four more years. My guess is "no" - and it's easy to fix most things yourself. For $140, you could take you computer in at least a couple of times to a local shop (forget about Circuit City or Best Buy - go to a local shop!), and chances are good that if you haven't needed service by now, it's not going to happen. The most common problem is a bad HD or CD/DVD, and those are pretty simple to replace.

Dell's warranties are worthless, I would not pay extra for an extended warranty.

It took them 9 months after I got my computer to do anything about an out of box failure and when they did, they told me that they were sending a man to insert a new hard disk.

Basically, he met me at the door, handed me the box, told me to put it in myself and to mail the old one back and that was it.

There is no warranty on Dell products and there has not been for many years.

I took extra warranty on dell generation xp. 3 warranty for $250.00. Hard drive crashed in 2004 replaced no charge, harddrive crashed changed no cost, 2006 monitor crashed replaced no charge. make sure when u buy the warranty you have service included till 9.00 pm on weekdays and also service included on weekends from 8.00 to 5.00 pm. Make sure u tell them u like to read the contract before u sign. Writ down the full name of the salesperson who sells u this warranty.good luck

it really depends, yes your pc will be worth a hell of a lot less in 4 years, but dells also if even bumped or anything get ****** up, trust me, we got the warrenty and we have had to replace parts worth over 700$ and our pc was only 2000$ to begin with. So it really depends, if you wunna go get repairs done yourself and pay for the 50$ shipping and hundred $$ parts then thats up to you. I say its worth it personally having owned two of them. But, do what you want......

No, with the price of pcs being where they are at today, you should be able to upgrade for a better pc 2 years down the road. PCs are now outdated 6 months after you buy them now.

Extended warranties are the biggest ripoff. Keep your money. If you have any mechanical ability to use a philips screwdriver you can replace parts yourself.

If you made money off of it, do you think they would offer it?
Warranties are the best money a company can make - because the payoff is so low.

Windows Vista is being released soon, so if you are thinking of installing it, you will probably need a new computer.
