The fact that news media has become either left or right means that the people are completely screwed to getting at the truth.

Your question betrays a bias... you assume that corporate values are right wing values. I would argue that this has changed, and corporate values are increasingly moving to the left. Why? Because it s good business. That s all. It s certainly not because they ve grown a heart. They ve just realized that that s where the money is. The same people that braved tear gas and rubber bullets at the WTO riots are now unabashed supporters of the tech industry, the idea being - apparently - "sure they re greedy corporations, but they re OUR greedy corporations." When Noam Chomsky wrote "Manufacturing Consent" about the media back in the 80 s, corporate values much more closely matched right wing values. It s different now - and tech is the difference. I would suggest that the media are no less the corporate tools they were back then... it s just that corporate values have changed.

The media is obviously corporate, but I don't think it's either left wing or right wing.

On social matters, I usually detect a slight liberal slant in the media. They show gays and minorities sympathetically, and usually portray religious people as a little kooky.

On economic matters, it's about even. It's rare to see an editorial calling for either state-ownership of property OR total deregulation of industry. Usually, it seems like the media favors a moderate, "3rd way" approach.

On foreign affairs, I think the media slants slightly to the right. The media is usually more sympathetic to the U.S. government line than it is critical.

So overall, it all balances out.

"The Media", a vast global conspiracy to drain the attention and brainpower of the world's citizens, is definitely not left-wing liberal. However, they're not right-wing corporate, either, though some of their heads definitely qualify as such. No, in reality, "The Media" is just a huge organization bent on destroying the world as we know it. Eventually, if The Media have it their way, we'll all be getting "news" that is completely inconsequential and viewpoints fed to us through our TVs.

The owners of the media seek profit, the reporters seek bias and often just plain make up stories as was outed during the last hizbullah terrorist attacks in Israel.

There is a study which definitely proves there is a liberal bias. The premise is logical.

The media is not actually interested in party politics.
It is owned by Zionists, who are only interested in the Zionist agenda related to a New World Order.
Party politics are merely a ploy to make citizens feel that they might have some say on what is happening.

Look up Operation Mockingbird, to discover how the CIA infiltrated all main media outlets, and censors everything.

If one has to choose between these two extremes, they probably would be better served by the liberal media. The corporate media is way too self serving & controlling through marketing (i.e. having the ability to make people feel that "wants" are "needs") The other one would just give you philosophical bias that people can accept or reject if they feel that it is ridiculous.

I believe the media is primarily liberal! I would love to hear a good station that just gives the facts and leaves all the opinions for the people to decide. Or at least presents multiple view points from all sides. No left, no right, just give me the facts.

Right wing corporate media all the way.

I'm always shocked when anything gets out but that.---
then they will take that tiny smigen and cry "liberals! , liberal media!!!"--
It's all a ploy.
