I started in special education, but realize I don't want to be a special education teacher. I really enjoy writing, non-fiction only, but I know that the journalism job market is not as open or pays as well as education. I want to enjoy my college experience, but I also want a good paying job when I graduate. I am seriously considering changing my major to journalism,.

If I promised to give you a million dollars a year, but every day when you came to work for me I would make you stand in knee deep fecal material and shovel it - how long would you do this for?

Bottom line, a job you hate isn't worth a million a year!

Change it. When studying something you like, you learn about many related subjects as well in the effort to know as much as you can about your core interest. Your degree thus actually prepares you for a wider area of occupations than just your chosen field.
When studying something you don't like, you just try to get by and your degree is next to worthless as far as applicability to other areas is concerned. It's one avenue to a terrible waste of a mind as the saying goes.

Do both. Sure, it's more work now, but then you'll have something to fall back on if journalism doesn't work out for you.
