Top of table is marked and contains Teak Oil from over 30 years of cleaning. How do I get this surface back to a "as new" look - legs and frame are OK. Do you sand it or strip it back and then apply scandanavian Teak Oil to return colour??

Before you strip or sand, check out this web site below:
Howards restor-a-finish has worked great for me.It comes in (9) different colors.Just wipe it on then wipe
it off. Covers scratches, white marks, oxidation, sun fade.
Restores original color and luster to the wood. And will not dissolve the existing finish. There is also, a wax that can be put on after you have finished the project. You can find Howards products @ Lowe's and most paint and hardware stores.

I would start with mineral spirits and a cloth to get the surface clean. Then I would take some steel wool (0000), soaked in mineral spirits and go over the trouble spots. If the color of the wood varies from scratching out the marks, you may have to sand the entire surface to match those areas. Once this is is done, apply More teak oil. Watco makes a nice teak oil that I have used in the past.

If the top of the table is scratched and you want to return to like new you should sand the entire top. Teak is a naturally oily wood. Before you finish the top with an oil. You should wipe down the table with naphtha or mineral spirits, and then apply the finish immediately

Sand it. Don't put stripper on teak. It's a labor intensive wood, but beautiful when it's well-taken care of.

do not touch it with a sander or steal wool, its not good for the wood. all you need to do is rumb it over with metholated spirits and a old towel, that will turn brown, from all the polish and stuff
