Hi!!! I have a dell computer which was given to me. It had so much stuff on it I decided to clean it and put windows xp sp2.
Well, after a couple of hours I managed to get windows xp on. When I turned the computer on the next day I realized I left an aol cd inside and I took it out when the computer was still running in its beginning stage. I must have interrupted something because now my computer screen goes blank right after the windows screen.
Can someone help me correct this problem. Thank you!!

"This will delete anything you have saved, and all of you custom settings!
You can revert you computer to its original state by:
(it will be like how it was when you opened up the box)
1. Reboot

2. When the Dell screen appears, Hold and
then release them both at the same time.

3. Click the Restore button or press the key to highlight Restore and press the key.
A caution message appears advising that all data will be lost.

4. Click the Confirm button or press the key to highlight Confirm and press the key.
The Progress window appears. Once the process is begun, Dell PC Restore usually takes only 8 to 10 minutes to complete.
When the restore is complete, the message The system recovery process was successful appears.

5 .Click the Finish button or press the key to highlight Finish and press the key.
The computer will restart.

Sounds like you'll probably have to rebuild it again. Make sure that you completely format it down first. After you install the OS and other software you'd like, you might want to consider using Norton Ghost. This will make an image of your PC so instead of hours of rebuilding, you will only spend about 10 minutes rebuilding it. It has saved me hours, days of restoring my PCs. Good Luck!
